Hi my name is Jill and I’ve recently started blogging at the grand old age of 60. I have throughout my working life lived and worked in some fantastic countries around the world and I’ve always enjoyed walking for exercise and as a way of exploring my surroundings.
After leaving university (Edinburgh & Stirling) my first work experience was with the VSO and I spent two years in Lesotho. From there I moved to Thailand where I lived and worked on and off for about 35 years. I have also worked in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
My aim is to focus my blog on my walking, hiking and rambling holidays. I originally got hooked on walking holidays many years ago when I visited the Isle of Skye. I have revisited Skye many times since and always enjoy it there as I find it so beautiful and a great place to relax and unwind.
I hope to document some of my previous travels as well as any new adventures I undertake as I head into retirement.
As it is early days for the blog I’ve not yet done anything along the lines of sponsored posts like a lot of bloggers do and although that is in no way the reason why I started the blog it would be nice in future if I could at least cover the hosting and domain renewal costs etc.
I would like to take the chance here to thank Ed and David from EE Hub who have helped me (for free) with setting my blog up. Lots of great advice and they kindly asked if I’d like to be the first ever blog to be featured on EE Hub.
I hope eventually to have about 10 to 15 main posts covering the countries and cities I’ve lived and worked in and moving on from those main ones I plan to cover my holiday travels.
To mix things up a bit, I’ll also do some of my local walks. I try to go somewhere fairly local for a nice walk at least one weekend a month. I think that should prove popular as booking a holiday throughout Asia isn’t cheap but when I cover some areas throughout the UK that people can take a great walk in that should be accessible to almost everyone.
I don’t intend to make it like trip advisor but I will cover the accommodation on most of my holiday posts as I’ve stayed at some great B&B’s and small family run hotels over the years and I think they deserve a mention.
If you would like me to write a review etc, then please get in touch to see if it is something I’d like to get involved with.
Feel free to contact me via my blog or my social media outlets.
