Eastern Enterprise Hub students from Essex celebrate their Inspiring Enterprise Programme graduation

Students from the 2017 Inspiring Enterprise Programme, delivered by the Eastern Enterprise Hub, received their graduation certificates on Tuesday 28 March from Digby Chacksfield, CEO of the Eastern Enterprise Hub.

The Inspiring Enterprise Programme, fully sponsored by Essex County Council’s Essex Innovation Programme, was set up to provide accessible and beneficial support for individuals living in Essex who want to set up a business in the county.

Digby Chacksfield, CEO of the Eastern Enterprise Hub, said: “I’m extremely proud to support start-up entrepreneurs in Essex.

“A strategy that Essex County Council has supported and nurtured, and together with business leaders, we have proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Essex has a diverse community of talented, enterprising and resilient people who can start and sustain dynamic small businesses. Long may Essex thrive in this way.

“Our 2017 cohort have shared some fantastic business plans with us and we look forward to watching them develop. Enterprises included a 3d map designer, a nutritional therapy consultancy, a make-up box manufacturer, a burlesque dance instructor and a health and social care business consultancy.”

Paul Dodson, Head of Commissioning Growing Essex , Economic Growth, Essex County Council, said: “It is fantastic to see these new Essex businesses coming out of this programme – there has been lots of potential on show here today – I’ll be watching to see how they develop in the future.”

The programme which kicked-off in January, is designed to run alongside the day-to-day tasks of setting up a business and helps students develop new entrepreneurial skills, self-confidence and be a part of a community of like-minded business leaders and entrepreneurs. During the course students had the opportunity to pitch for up to £2,000 to help take their enterprise to the next level.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Eastern Enterprise Hub, The Knowledge Gateway research and technology park, Essex University.
