Eastern Enterprise Hub students celebrate Ipswich Entrepreneur Programme graduation

Students from the 2016/17 Ipswich Entrepreneurs Programme, delivered by the Eastern Enterprise Hub, received their graduation certificates on Tuesday 28 March from Cllr. David Ellesmere, Leader of Ipswich Borough Council.

The Ipswich Entrepreneurs Programme, fully sponsored by Ipswich Borough Council, was set up to provide accessible and beneficial support for individuals living in the Ipswich IP1-IP4 area who want to set up a business in Ipswich.

Digby Chacksfield, CEO of the Eastern Enterprise Hub, said: “I’m extremely proud to be realising the vision to drive business growth by supporting start-up entrepreneurs in Ipswich.

“A strategy that Ipswich Borough Council has supported and nurtured, and together with business leaders, we have proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ipswich has a diverse community of talented, enterprising and resilient people who can start and sustain dynamic small businesses. Long may Ipswich thrive in this way.

“We are always amazed by the diverse range of business ideas students bring to the Hub and this year is no exception.”

“Our latest cohort of entrepreneurs includes a personalised cryptic crossword setter, a Pilates instructor, an image and impact consultant, a creative glass artist, an authentic Spanish food supplier and a ladies’ fitwear fashion label.”

Cllr. David Ellesmere, Leader of Ipswich Borough Council, said: “We’re really pleased to work for the third year running with the Eastern Enterprise Hub.

“The energy and enthusiasm is infectious. The quality of the product is getting better and better and I’m sure many successful Ipswich businesses will grow from this programme.”

Karen Stewart, former Ipswich Entrepreneur Programme graduate, co-owner of CCs Sandwich bar and owner of Puzzle Mobile Boutique, said ”Thank you so much for invitingCCs and me to the Graduation today. It was so lovely being back. I wish I could come on another course - that feeling of positive vibes is missed.”

The programme which kicked-off in October 2016, is designed to run alongside the day-to-day tasks of setting up a business and helps students develop new entrepreneurial skills, self-confidence and be a part of a community of like-minded business leaders and entrepreneurs.
