How To Increase Your Web Traffic

By Amy Bramwell, Marketing Manager

For many start up entrepreneurs, one of the things they want more then anything else is… more customers. Having a functional, well-branded website is one of the surest ways to attract more potential clients, and so here are five tips on how you can increase your website traffic, and hopefully in turn, increase your sales:

1. Get influential people to write content for you

Getting people within your industry - with a strong digital reach - to create content for your website is a great way to increase web traffic.

You need to look for someone who is influential in your sector and who has a big social network; this is because you want them to share this content with their connections, therefore extending YOUR social reach.

2. Write great headlines

Headlines are the most important part of the content you create for your website. Without an engaging headline, even the most interesting and comprehensive blog post will go unread.

Ask yourself these questions before you hit ‘publish’, “Is it witty? Is it impactful?”

3. Get social!

So you’ve created great content, with a witty headline – but how are people going to find it?

Be proactive – one of the best ways to increase traffic to your website is to use social media channels to promote your content.

Twitter is ideal for short, snappy links, whereas Facebook allows you to be more descriptive and lends more to the ‘visual’ side of things.

4. Share your content more than once

When you are at the early stages of business and promoting what you do, it’s really important to share promotional content as much as possible.

You might publish a blog post or video on your website and distribute it across your Facebook and Twitter pages once, but what about all those people who missed that initial communication?

Share each piece of content multiple times – perhaps three times over the space of a week, to ensure its digital reach.

5. Make sure your website is responsive

Today, more people then ever are using mobile devices (including tablets) to access the web, and so you need to ensure your website is accessible and comfortably viewable across a range of devices.
