10 Traits of an Entrepreneur

What, besides the obvious, makes a successful entrepreneur?

Successful young entrepreneurs have 10 essential traits that elevate them above the rest.

1. Imagination.  Einstein once said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." You maybe the best at IT and finance but so are thousands of other people. What makes you stand out is imagining a unique idea and creating it.

2. Empathy. Empathy leads to understanding what the people you advertise to need; what they want, how they think, and how to best reach them. It’s hard to imagine somebody building a company without understanding their buyers.

3. Innovative. Learning how to overcome common obstacles will put you in an aggressive position when it comes to being prominent in your market. Innovative entrepreneurs find new ways around old problems.

4. A sense of fairness. Deal fairly with vendors, customers, and employees as it’s nearly impossible to succeed without people to help you. Showing compassion for individuals is a positive model for behaviour and successful business.

5. Transferable values. To be a great entrepreneur, you need to know how to talk to various types of people from customers to potential partners to network officials. Networking is key.

6. Willingness to work hard, shoulder to shoulder with other people. The harder you work, the more you get back.

7. Persistent. It takes time to grow. You may not produce a profit within the first year or so and far too many aspiring entrepreneurs give up too soon. Persistence is key to getting what you want.

8. Positive attitude. No one wants to work with a negative Nancy. Having a positive attitude will help to motivate you, along with everyone else.

9. Vision. Your vision is the ultimate goal for your business, which keeps the ambition and determination flowing.

10. Making mistakes. You have to deal with failure. Learning from failure is a part of life and by making mistakes you learn not to repeat them in business. You are only human. "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new."

Remember all entrepreneurs are different, but all of them possess these necessary traits to get started on making their dreams come true.
